Trust but Verify (your freelancer)

There is so much uncertainty when trying to find a developer or company to contract your job... or for hiring anyone for that matter. The best you normally have to go on is a recommendation, or a portfolio. Then after a decision is made it could be months before a visible product is delivered. This normal scenario relies on a lot of trust. And sometimes, almost as the flip of a coin, the level of quality nowhere meets the level of expectation.

But now is a different time, with different tools, and different ways to solve old problems. There are new ways to find graphic designers by seeing samples of your logos before contracting (www.crowdSPRING.com). Long ago you would pay for software and then take it home, but now you get free trials at web sites before paying. Overnight Apps(www.overnightapps.com) is new and different too. From the first day you can see your working custom application, and test it, and use it, and critique it. Then you can decide.

You no longer have to trust that someone will do what they say. You no longer have to hope you've made the right decision. You can immediately trust that you're going to get what you want.

The old ways don't have to stay. There are new and different ways now.

Overnight Apps - Let the introduction begin!

Seems like with each business I've started, one of the first obstacles I've faced is having to explain the product. Since my customers were unfamiliar with the offering, they assumed it was something else, and were unsure and skeptical.

For instance, I owned a comedy club that mainly did improvised comedy. Everyone expected standup, and with each customer, we had to explain what improv was. Once the Drew Carey 'Whos line ist it anyway show' became popular, it made it easier to say.. hey, it's just like that...

I've also encountered it with my ongoing technology product called microspaces. (www.microspaces.com) As I'm familiar with what it is, it just seems obvious that the future is multiple GUI's. I understand how impactful it will be, and I know it will take hold.

And here with Overnight Apps (www.overnightapps.com). It's a new way to develop a product, a new software lifecycle, a new way to build apps, use them all the while, and test. Just hope old assumptions on how awful the process is can be overcome, once there is a new understanding.

Customizations in place

As soon as you start using your overnight app, you'll immedediately realize that you want either a minor change or see a better way. It's extremely easy to note a customization, right then, right there. Simply click on the 'Customization' link in the upper right corner, and type it into your control panel.
